Clothed in Love is a volunteer led project, launched in Renfrewshire in 2020.
Child poverty in Paisley and surrounding area is estimated to be 21%, which means more than 7,000 children are living in poverty in Renfrewshire today. [Report of Renfrewshire Tackling Poverty Commission]. This motivated us to look at ways we can help change this, working alongside other community groups to ensure no duplication of services, working in tandem to support families experiencing times of need.
We want to do our part to ensure no child in Renfrewshire grows up without essential items for daily life.
We collect good quality donations of clothes, from newborn to children up to the age of seven, and baby essentials such as moses baskets, cots, high chairs, baby baths, prams, and buggies to gift alongside nappies and toiletries to local families.
We work through referrals from professionals and organisations working with families, such as health visitors, midwives, nurseries, charities including those working with refugees and asylum seekers, and individuals in the community to enable us to make contact with those in need.
For each household, clothes are laundered, ironed, folded, and carefully packaged into gift bags ready to be delivered. We receive donations at the Mossy Café.
Since launching in 2020, Clothed In Love are delighted to have received funding from Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron and her team, Woman2Woman, the Foundation Scotland Response Recovery and Resilience Fund, the Corra Foundation #ShiftthePower Scotland Comic Relief Programme, Arnold Clark Community Fund, Local Giving, Rozelle Trust, the Essentia Foundation and of course very generous individual donors.
