What's going on?!
There is a lot more going on at Mossvale than just a traditional Sunday morning service! We organise a range of groups and activities for all ages throughout the week, run several community projects, and hold and several annual and seasonal special events.
We do not host house groups, but instead base many of our activities within our hub, The Mossy, our community cafe which is also open to the public three days a week.
As a church family we really enjoy socialising together, and our Events Team co-ordinate lots of fun and alternative opportunities to get together for special occasions, fundraising, and just getting to know each other better.
Woman2Woman ministries provide many opportunities for women to develop and nurture a closer relationship with God, from Bible Studies, to Worship Days, to one-to-one mentoring from Pastor Debbie Orr.
As part of Churches Together Renfrewshire, we attend joint inter-church celebrations (One Church) regularly across the county including The Filling Station services during the summer.
We also hold a "Re-engage" (formerly Contact the Elderly) lunch twice a year, and hold monthly services for the residents of Ailsa Court sheltered housing complex.
We participate in the R.E. curriculum for Mossvale and St James Primary schools by running the CLC Chaplaincy Team "Bubblegum & Fluff" and "Easter Code" programmes for them annually.
We also support Clothed In Love, receving donations of preloved clothing donations from newborn to up to 7 years of age, and infant essentials such as cots and buggies, and gift them to local families.
Since 2005, we have been actively working alongside Osmond Rescue Aid Mission, an NGO in Ghana, West Africa. This partnership has led to us building Mossvale Community Sanctuary and supporting the Mossy International School.
We are delighted that the charity Sewing2gether All Nations, are based at Mossvale, providing practical support and training for members of the refugees and asylum seeker community, 'new Scots'!
Pastor Hugh Chalk and Pastor Debbie Orr are authorised as opposite sex wedding celebrants in a religious ceremony, authorised by the Registrar General in Scotland. The Church Sanctuary is not available for hire to outside celebrants. We also conduct child dedications, adult water baptisms and funeral ceremonies. [Facilitation of any Christian ceremony would be dependant upon availability and prior discussion and consideration of the request, which may include premarital counselling or completion of a study class.]
We also have several other organisations hire our hall for public and closed activities, including QFC Training and Zumba with Hazel. We currently do not have the capacity for any further regular hires.
