Lynne McDonald tells us all about her recent trip toThailand. My recent trip to Thailand was a little different from any of my usual trips. there was no dental work or preaching. I went to help out with the Rainbow House Childrens Camp 2007. The amazing people at Rainbow House orphanage take disabled children from the government homes and community based rehabilitation projects for a holiday every year. A holiday at the seaside may be nothing to us, but for a disabled child who has rarely been out of the orphanage ward he lives in it is heaven. 300 over excited children and their carers arrived at the camp for a playing, drawing, dancing, singing, swimming, eating funfest. And they got to experience the love of Jesus in action. The highlight for me was seeing some of the profoundly disabled kids and blind children getting into the water for the first time. The sensation of water and sand was almost too much for them. The shreaks of delight and laughter were in stark contrast to life on the wards where children are packed into cots with minimal human touch. Exausting, fun and emotional at times we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves through the eyes of the children in our care. I thought of how these kids are not valued in Buddhist culture and the word of Jesus: ' Let the little children come to me for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them.'
